West end personal trainers 2 week New years detox protocol!

The holiday season is coming to an end. Its been indulgent, fun a little bit naughty and a little bit nice. Unfortunately with the holiday season our health and body can take a little bit of a beating, We tend to eat foods that are very rich in fat and sugar and consume more alcohol than normal our body can become overloaded and getting back into the swing of things can be difficult as we can feel sluggish, tired and lacking motivation and energy.
Enter the two week detox. This protocol is designed to help the body do what it naturally does without the “magic” detox teas, shakes and over miracle pills that get thrown around this time of year. This protocol works to optimise your body to eliminate built up toxins and reset your system so that you can recapture your energy and vitality and in the process start to shift some of that extra weight you may have put on over the holiday season.
Here’s how it works.
We will be incorporating a few morning rituals including the morning “miracle” drink that helps to wake the body up, restore gut health and replace essential electrolytes and minerals that may be low, resetting your circadian rhythm to help bring hormonal balance back to the body. this is extremely important as this will help our body naturally grow and repair any damaged tissues and cells. Building positive thoughts towards your life by writing in a daily gratitude journal and we will also nourish our bodies with food that is anti inflammatory, full of amazing nutrients and fibre to help revitalise the body, repair and lower inflammation and help clean out built up toxins. This food is not only amazing for the body its amazing for the taste buds as well!
Next we use our bodies biggest organ our skin, With the use of infrared sauna we will help the body eliminate heavy metals & toxins from the body in a passive relaxing way that is proven to not only promote the elimination of toxins, it can also improve your skin, can burn the same calories as going for a 45 minute jog and is like booking in a nice little appointment for yourself where you get to enjoy some piece and quiet while improving your health. The final piece to our detox puzzle is improving your sleep. It is not only important to get sleep in to match your circadian rhythm but it is also our greatest natural tool for healing and recovery. Getting a full 8 hours sleep is the fastest way to get your body back to its natural rhythms and allow it to restore your energy and heal your body from the good times it has had in the last couple months. Setting your self up for a good nights sleep is going to make a massive difference to your 2 week detox.
Here is the 2 week detox protocol
On waking –
1: Morning miracle drink – In a glass of room temperature water add a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar a pinch of Himalayan pink salt and the juice of half a lemon. Mix until all the salt has dissolved.
2: As soon as you have had your drink get some direct sunlight on your body this will help to tell your body that its time to get up and it will also work in well with your natural circadian rhythm this is your bodies signal get on with your day. If you are not training first thing in the morning a 30 minute brisk walk or a gentle yoga routine will help switch your bodies systems on, get the blood moving around your body and it gives your mind a nice chance to find some space before you start your day. – Bonus Hack if you want to help fire up your bodies fat burning systems as soon as you finish your walk jump in a cold shower 3-5 minutes of cold water can mobilise brown fat tissue to help keep you warm, be brave and embrace natures cold fat burning fire!
3: Spend 5 minutes writing in a gratitude journal – Positive thoughts create positive actions and spending 5 minutes first thing in the day to remind yourself of all the things you are grateful for can have hugely positive effects on not only your mind but your body.
4: Nourish your body – Blend up a green smoothie – Green smoothies are a great way to get a lot of nutrients in fast. Green SUPERFOOD smoothies are simple for your body to digest and packed full of nutrients to help the cleansing process. While you are cleansing we want your cells in your body focused on the job at hand so getting a Super food smoothie in in the morning is going to make your body come alive. Here is one of our favourite green smoothie recipes – from our good friend Asja @Thegroundedway
Supergreen insurance policy smoothie
Makes 1 serve
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 lebanese cucumber
  • 1/4-1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • 1 kale leaf, stem removed
Blend up and store in glass jars for upto 4 days!
5: Get sweaty – Our Infrared sauna is going to be your best friend during this detox book in 3 20-30 minute sessions each week. Bonus hack – Drink lots of water and add lemon and Himalayan salt to keep your electrolyte balance up while you do all that beautiful sweating Bonus Hack 2 – Hit a mix of 5 minutes sauna 1 min cold shower 4-5 times to help “Flush” your body and supercharge your recovery from training as well as helping the detox process. 
6: Get consistent with your training again. Its as simple as that commit to your 3-5 days of training and slowly build your way into training. Our bodies are made to move and getting it moving is going to help restore your energy and vitality and also help shift that extra serve of pav you had at Christmas dinner. 
7: Get your beauty sleep – commit to yourself and your health. Its easy to get 8 hours sleep if you make a decision that its important. There is nothing better than waking up refreshed and ready to go for the next day. Remove all electronics from your room, aim to make it as dark as possible and aim to have a room temp of 18 degrees. Bonus hack – Have an epsom salt bath. The magnesium in the epsom salts can also add to restoring electrolyte balance and the warm water can help to relax your blood vessels and your nervous system and is a great way to help your body and mind unwind and prepare for sleep. 
Bonus hacks – Having a good quality greens powder can help with replenishing your vitamin and mineral levels and help the cells do their job. Taking them in the morning with your Morning Miracle drink is another great way to help the next two weeks really restore and reset your body to be in prime position to take on the year ahead.
The body is amazing and is constantly detoxing itself every day. This protocol can assist the bodies natural processes. There is no need for the detox products that are most of the time a great example of marketing but not always the a great example of something that will actually help improve your health.
